Fraser Coast is a length of coastline following Fraser
Island, separated from the mainland by the waterway known as the Great
Sandy Straits. Along this coastline are many towns and small
communities Burrum Heads, Toogoom, Dundowran, Craignish with Hervey Bay opposite the northern tip of
Fraser Island and Rainbow Beach at the southern tip.
Between these two busy towns which are the crossing points for ferrying
tourists to Fraser Island are Tin Can Bay, Tinnanbar, Poona, Tuan,
Boonooroo, Maaroom, City of Maryborough, River Heads.
In this area of the Fraser Coast one may enjoy fishing and crabbing in
the deep channel at Sandy Straits waters or in the many mangrove
estuaries and tidal bays. This waterway is haven for dugongs and
turtles...
