HOW TO FIND POONA BAY! GPS CORDS: S 25°43'261" and E 152°54'776" POONA BAY is located approximately 90 minutes north of the Sunshine Coast and 245km from Brisbane airport.
This peaceful little coastal village is only 7.5 km from the World Heritage listed Fraser Island.
The waterway separating Poona from Fraser Island is known as the great Sandy Strait and hugely popular with boating and fishing enthusiasts.
POONA today presents itself as a quite, pictures coastal village entered by a tree lined 7 km drive from Cooloola Coast Rd.. There are now approximately 290 houses and population of 360, a delightful beachside caravan park, with several self-contained, air-conditioned holiday units and a small shop. The town also has an area set aside for some commercial development. Large community hall with hot food and licensed bar on Friday nights.
POONA is populated by a fascinating variety of people, and a mixed age group. The nearest large town is Maryborough , only 25 minutes drive away and an easy distance to commute for work or shopping facilities.
POONA is , because of it's relatively secluded setting, still largely untouched and offers a diverse range of residential opportunities from waterfront to more forested inland sites.
